pasien diabetes mellitus tipe 2.

ABSTRACT
Background: Diabetes Mellitus is a chronic hyperglycemic state accompanied by various
metabolic disorders due to hormonal disorders that cause various chronic complications in the
eyes, kidneys, nerves and blood vessels. Progressive muscle relaxation is a procedure to get
relaxation in the muscles through two steps, namely by applying tension to a muscle group,
and stopping the tension then focusing on how the muscle relaxes, and the tension disappears
(Herodes, 2010). The purpose of the Literature Review with progressive muscle relaxation
therapy is to reduce blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods:
This study used the Literature Review method. The databases used are Google Scholar and
Pubmed with a minimum time limit of 5 years. Results: the provision of progressive muscle
relaxation therapy can reduce blood glucose levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Conclusion: progressive muscle relaxation therapy can reduce blood glucose levels in patients
with type 2 diabetes mellitus because it has a role in managing the sympathetic and
parasympathetic nervous systems which can inhibit the process of glucogenesis, progressive
muscle relaxation is done by focusing or concentrating by providing contraction or tension in
the muscles then stopping the tension by relaxing the muscles so that the body becomes more
relaxed and can prevent stress which can lead to increased blood sugar levels.
