Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disease with multiple etiologies characterized by high blood sugar levels accompanied by impaired carbohydrate, lipid and protein metabolism and produces chronic complications such as microvascular, macrovascular and neuropathic. The level of adherence of Type II Diabetes Mellitus patients at the Gladagsari Health Center is very important to study because it wants to know how much the level of compliance in taking medication is.
Compliance is a patient's behavior in accordance with the instructions given by health workers regarding the disease and its treatment. This level of adherence for each patient is usually described as the percentage of the number of drugs taken each day and the time of taking the drug correctly. This research is a descriptive analysis using primary data sourced from questionnaires. The variables studied in this study were the level of knowledge measured using the DKQ-24 questionnaire and the level of compliance measured using the MMAS-8 questionnaire. The data that will be obtained from the questionnaire is processed using the SPSS application.
From the results of the study the level of knowledge of patients about type II Diabetes mellitus, as many as 43.3% of patients had high knowledge, 40.0% had moderate knowledge, and 16.7% patients had low knowledge. While the results of the study on the level of adherence to taking medication, as many as 16.7% of patients were less compliant, 33.3% of patients were quite obedient and 50.0% of patients had high adherence to taking medication. There is a relationship between the level of knowledge and the level of compliance of patients with type II Diabetes mellitus at the Gladagsari Health Center analyzed using the chi-square test, the results obtained p.value 0.000 (p < 0.05) which means that there is a relationship between the level of knowledge and the level of compliance
